The headline of the newspaper states “Relieved! British troops in Guernsey. Within the next two weeks guernsey will be re-provisioned with all essentials preparations for liberation of Chanel islands have been in progress for past 12 months.”

This newspaper is dated Wednesday the 9th of May 1945, and was produced to celebrate the end of German occupation, peace and liberation.

This is a superb piece of history advertising the end of German occupation in guernsey. 

Guernsey was occupied by Germany for nearly five years, from June 30, 1940, until its liberation on May 9, 1945. It was part of the only British territory in Europe occupied during World War II.
