For sale is a 1st edition 1946 Publication titled Heraldry in war, Formation badges, 1939-1945 By LT-Colonel Howard N Cole OBE accompanied by a signed letter by the author. This book is an excellent reference book for British and commonwealth formation patches. Both the book and letter are in excellent condition.
The signed letter by the author is a letter from LT-Colonel Howard N Cole OBE dated 1st august 1946 addressed to a Mr Williams, in response to a previous letter stating the following: “Many thanks for your letter of the 16th July, I must apologize for not replying before but I have been in Belgium and I asked for all my correspondence to be held until my return. I was glad to hear that you had seen a copy of my book "Heraldry in War" and that you had found it interesting. This is most gratifying. Yes, it is my intention one day to bring this book completely up to date. As I pointed out to the publishers it is very nearly impossible to produce a complete collection at the present time. I was very grateful indeed to receive the details you gave me of the second badge worn by the 9th Corps when the Formation was in North Africa. I shall have pleasure in including this second 9th Corps badge in the next edition of my book together with reference to your notes which I shall have much pleasure in acknowledging.
