History of MEISSNER SCHUHFABRIK:

The Meißner Schuhfabrik was a company in Meissen, Saxony, which existed from 1900 to 2008 and mainly manufactured men's shoes.

In 1954, 700 people were employed.  In 1970, the company was regarded as the leading company (model) for men's shoe production in the GDR.  In 1994 the company was symbolically sold by the Treuhandanstalt to a Russian investor.  It continued in production for a year.  In 1996, Ströber & Co Schuhfabrik GmbH acquired the movable inventory.  The factory building is on Hermann-Grafe-Strasse in the Zaschendorf district.

“Dear customer l The production workers in our company have endeavored and set their ambition to process the material used into high-quality street shoes so that you can really enjoy wearing them. You yourself can enjoy these shoes by one thing appropriate treatment and care.  We can therefore give you the following advice: 1. Apply lotion to new shoes before wearing them to protect them film against abrasion, dirt and moisture. 2. Sufficiently tie the laces when taking off lace-up shoes. open and use a shoehorn when putting them on.  3. Put a tightener on the shoes when not in use.  4. Air dry wet footwear, never near heat sources.  Stuffing with paper speeds up drying. 5. After wearing, remove dirt from shoes with a soft brush.  6. Then treat with a good shoe polish.  It is applied very thinly with a cloth wrapped around your finger.  Only after a drying time of 5 to 10 minutes should it be polished with a soft brush or a soft cloth.  Finally, with the help of a soft cloth, a high gloss is created with only light pressure. 7. Sensitive and delicately colored leather shoes are treated with a shoe care product.  The cream must not be pressed directly onto the shoe in order to distribute it from there, but first onto a cloth wrapped around your finger.  This is followed by careful, wafer-thin, even distribution with circular movements.  Never rub hard!  Only polish after a drying time of 5 to 10 minutes.  A good turpentine oil cream can also be used to care for black or dark-colored street shoes. 8. There are slight differences in shade between cream and shoe. without meaning;  colorless cream can be used in any case.  9. For multicolored and grained shoes, a liquid leather polish or fine shoe care product is recommended. 10. The use of commercial stain removers is always dangerous, especially when rubbing at the same time.  Only careful dabbing can prevent damage to the leather . If you observe these instructions when wearing and caring for our shoes, you will also make a significant contribution to ensuring that the Meißner shoes you buy are only subject to normal wear and tear, fully fulfill their intended purpose and that you wear Meißner shoes with comfort.
