This is in good condition and reads “With best wishes From the commodore and officers naval base, Portland, Xmas 1916.” And has an emblem of the British Royal Navy and merchant navy. 

This measures 7.6cm width x 10.1cm length. 

In 1916, Portland Naval Base in Dorset, England, was utilized as HMS Sarepta, a shore base for Royal Navy floatplanes involved in anti-submarine warfare. These planes, including Short 184s and Fairey F16 Campanias, patrolled the English Channel to counter German U-boat threats. The base was located west of Portland Castle, with hangars and launch ramps, and also included buildings like a bath house and mess hall within the castle grounds.
