For sale is a WW1 Victory Medal & Mentioned In Despatches Oak Leaf To Captain West Indian Army.
This victory medal is engraved on the rim “Capt A P J West” and is accompanied with the mentioned in despatches oak leaf citation attached to the ribbon.
Captain west served with the Indian Army Reserve of Officers during ww1. He was entitled to a British war medal and victory medal. Unfortunately only the victory medal is present.
Captain west was mentioned in despatches on the 9th of January 1920 when he was serving in Egypt.
Gazette No. 31728. Mentioned in Despatches. The names of the undermentioned Officers, Ladies, Warrant Officers, Non-commissioned Officers and Men are to be added to those brought to notice for distinguished and gallant services by General Sir E. H. Allenby, G.C.B., G.C.M.G., Commander-in-Chief, Egyptian Expeditionary Force, in his despatch of the 5th March, 1919.
