For sale is a WW1 French- American Y.M.C.A. Propaganda Postcard Dated 1918.
The title of the postcard reads “LES FOYERS DU SOLDAT UNION FRANCO AMÉRICAINE” and this translates to THE HOME OF THE FRANCO-AMERICAN UNION SOLDIER.
A soldier walking in the snow towards the soldiers' homes. Les Foyers du Soldat was one of the three official welfare organizations; the Red Cross and the Y.M.C.A. were the other two. They set up canteens for soldiers to go to while on leave, providing a place to sleep, relax, eat, bathe; they even provided entertainment such as music or films.
This postcard is in good condition and has a French written message home on the back.
