For sale is a Antique Taxidermy 1890s Syphilis Paediatric Wax Moulage Death Mask which is an ex museum piece, with the label still attached to the back. This is a great example of a wax moulage of a young child with syphilis, great details round the eyes, mouth and nose. Wax medical moulages have been produced the last few hundred years for educational purposes. When a person would die of a disease, infection or illness a wax life sized copy of there face/ or body part of interest would be produced, these moulages would then be used to teach/ educate medical professionals of the time and future, many would also go into museums etc. These moulages could be made up with the victims real hair, teeth and eyebrows for a more realism to be achieved.
