For sale is a beautiful Antique 1880s Tibetan Buddhist Kapala Tantric Silver precious metal Mounted Offering Mask. This is an original item and not a resin reproduction, this is guaranteed original or money back guaranteed. 

 

The Tibetan skull mask (Kapala or Thod-pa) is used in tantric Buddhist ritual practices to represent the transformation of delusion into perfect wisdom. The mask also symbolises Great Bliss and is a potent symbol of impermanence. Traditionally crafted from the human cranium , sacred monkey skull or and a ram skulls & tortoise shells. It is one of the principal practice supports of the Tibetan Buddhist or Vajrayana yogin. 

 

This kapala mask is elaborately mounted with precious metals (in this case silver) and a several jewels, on the four head, two in the eyes, and two either side of the face. No parts are missing and it’s in beautiful condition. The precious metals are shaped in important Hindu/ Buddhist symbols like the lotus flower, skulls and other fancy decoration , Which is in excellent detail. This will be sent via special delivery and dispatched within two to three working day’s.

 

The tortoise is a symbol of wisdom and knowledge, and is able to defend itself on its own. It personifies water, the moon, the Earth, time, immortality, and fertility. A tortoise's longevity is suggested by its long lifespan and its shell, which was thought to protect it from any foe.

 

This kapala mask measures a width of 30cm x length 32cm and a height of 12cm. All silver decorations and jewels are complete. 

 

This Kapala Mask is made from an original 1880s elongated tortoise (Indotestudo elongata). This is an original kapala mask, produced in the late 19th century, pre dating 1947, and the shell had been modified/ worked from its original state. There are specific circumstances where you do not need an Article 10 certificate. Worked specimens that you got in their finished state before 3 March 1947 only. Therefor no A10 is required for the commercial sale/ or ownership of this original Kapala piece.
