For sale is a Beautiful Large Antique Silver Hallmarked London Inverness-shire Association Medal In It’s Original Box. The medal is silver hallmarked F.F&M Invss and the medal box was produced by Fraser Ferguson Macbean.
The London Invernessshire Association was one of a number of institutions founded in the 19th century to promote economic development in the Scottish Highlands. This medal was presented by them to the Dux (outstanding student) at the High Public School in Inverness.
The front of the medal in gothic Scottish text states “Presented By The London & Inverness-Shire Association”.
The back of the medal states “Glen Urqhart Higher Grade School 1919” with the awardees name engraved in the centre “Duncan H MacDonald”.
This silver medal weighs 39.92 grams, measures 7.4cm in height x 5.1cm width.
