For sale is a very Rare Antique Sir Walter Scott 1824 Bronze Commemorative Medal minting Error, With one face completely missing, no signs of material missing etc.
This is the obverse of a bronze medal commemorating Sir Walter Scott. Dating from 1824, the medal was made by W. Wyon.
The obverse depicts a bust of Scott with the surrounding text, 'Walter Scott'.
Scott's first novel 'Waverley' was published anonymously in 1814. It and subsequent historical novels were very successful. His novels were based on religious and political conflict and clashes between Scots and English and Highland and Lowland.
