Medal by George Richmond Collis and Company in 1840- Manchester Mechanics Institution, struck at exhibition, 1840. Obverse: legend, Struck off during the third annual exhibition 1840. G.R. Collis Del.; in exergue, scene of goddess holding laurel wreath, gesturing l. to building headed Mechanics Institution, bust of Dalton at her feet alongside beehive, cornucopia, factory chimney, artistic and industrial motifs. Reverse: head relief profile to left; legend headed, Sir B Heywood Bart; legend President of the Manchester Mechanics Institution from its commencement AD 1824.
