As a stew Sunday, from the 1st October 1933 introduced a propaganda action by the 3rdreich regime as a sign of solidarity with the ethnic community. In addition, the so-called fat gap, which could only be compensated by foreign exchange-rich imports, could be reduced. From October to March, only stew should be eaten once a month in all German households. The difference between the costs for the usual Sunday meal and the effort required for stew, generally estimated at 50 pennies "from above", was collected by the door-to-door block guards of the National socialists and benefited the recently founded winter aid organisation. The savings were supposedly often greater, e.g. B. with a recipe of a 4-person stew for 1.18 RM from 1933.
