Code: 11998

For sale is an original WW2 German M35 SS Single Decal Helmet Stamped 225 and SE62, with the original liner and chinstrap. This Helmet is stamped SE62, which stands for Sachsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke A.G. With the Liner underside black ink stamped SXH1, and the original chin strap stamped RB Nr 0/0390/0204. This helmet is in brilliant condition, with the up to 95% of the original factory finish field grey paint present. This helmet is a single decal M35, which unfortunately has been denazified.

The liner band is fastened to the helmet by 3 rivets. 2 in the front and 1 in the rear. Rivets were first made from brass but these were soon replaced by steel ones. (This helmet has the earlier brass rivets, this can be seen in the photos. The liner band has 2 D rings or chinstrap bales. These are used to fasten the chinstrap to the liner. The leather itself is riveted to an aluminium band with small aluminium rivets. The leather and the band together are a separate construction and can be removed from the liner band without having to take out the complete liner system.

The helmet, liner and chinstrap I believe was unissued, with the main indicators of this is the condition of the liner. The leather liner is made from sheep’s skin, and Under the leather you can always find a piece of felt , added for comfort. The felt comes in different colors from grey to brown. This piece of felt is clean and has no signs of wear or oil contact from wearing, on an issued and well worn helmet this piece of felt would be much darker grey. The darker the leather the more the helmet was worn. Sweat will color the leather but also oil products that people used in their hair at the time.

This helmet has the original m35 issue liner.  M35 has a single Aluminium band liner with brass flat head rivets, and Single band aluminium liners always have square cornered D rings. The inside of the leather liner is ink stamped in black “S x h 1”.

This is a textbook example of a through and through, Helmet, liner & chinstrap M35 issue, single decal,  SS 225 SE62 Sachsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke A.G.  helmet in near Mint unissued condition. (Unfortunately the SS runes have been altered as this was common practice for german servicemen to deface swastikas and runes of their own military equipment to show there support for the allies and a process of denazification). This helmet is guaranteed original or money back. We are happy to ship this internationally but this will be insured.
