Antique 1890s Medical Wax Moulage Cow Pox Lumps Death Mask

For sale is an absolutely stunning Antique Medical Wax Moulage Face Section which shows a young adult male with some sort of Illness with symptoms of facial swelling, big red pea sized lumps under the skin, possibly cow pox. This moulage is beautifully detailed and in excellent condition. The back of the moulage is marked with possibly a museum number identification mark of 17A.

Wax medical moulages have been produced the last few hundred years for educational purposes. When a person would die of a disease, infection or illness a wax life sized copy of there face/ or body part of interest would be produced, these moulages would then be used to teach/ educate medical professionals of the time and future, many would also go into museums etc. These moulages could be made up with the victims real hair, teeth and eyebrows for a more realism to be achieved.
